At its peak that show was one that could demand your attention and reward it with telling character notes and stories grounded in a million little moments. In its second episode, House of the Dragon proves itself capable of doing the same.
Simultaneously, Viserys’ brother Daemon comes into the picture and allies with Rhaenyra’s cause. When Viserys dies at the end of the first season, Westeros is thrown into chaos. Rhaenyra gets crowned Queen in Dragonstone, while Alicent has her son Aegon crowned in King’s Landing. As Shireen noted, the conflict took its toll on the Targaryens, as almost all of their dragons died in the war.
